
Doug Jackson - Scrooge

Doug Jackson set a goal in his youth to be a working professional actor with a home and family in Dallas. His credits over the past 38 years speak to the fulfillment of that dream. In nine of those years, the Christmas season has included a stage adaptation of A Christmas Carol. He has played Ebenezer Scrooge twice prior to this production (including a national tour) as well as various other characters: Fezziwig, Christmas Past and Old Joe among them. His career has included many roles at The Dallas Theater Center, Theatre Three, Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, TUTS (Houston), Dallas Children’s Theater, Stage West, Lyric Stage, the Plaza Theater, New Arts, Moving Target, Dallas Repertory Theatre, Casa Mañana, the Majestic Theatre, the Bass Hall and other venues around the country. Some favorite roles include Ed Kleban in A Class Act, Luther Billis in South Pacific, Doolittle in Pygmalion, Argan in The Imaginary Invalid, Morris in Fiorello, Oscar in The Odd Couple, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Peachum in The Threepenny Opera. He has performed the role of Man #2 in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! more than 450 times. On screen he has worked with Dennis Hopper, Tim Roth, Gene Hackman and other luminaries in films such as "Carried Away", "JFK" and "Mississippi Burning" and broadcast work including "Friday Night Lights", "Frequent Flier" and "Murder in the Heartland". Doug’s career also includes directing and designing for the stage. Credits include directing and designing Down a Long Road, in Dallas and at the Lamb’s Theatre in New York City, Children of Eden at Theatre Three and seven classic musicals (produced by Keith Ferguson) for First Baptist Church of Dallas at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, the Arts District Theater and the Bob Hope Theater at SMU. He spends time away from the stage in his North Oak Cliff bungalow with his wife Amy and two daughters, Emily (an OU Theatre major) and Abigail (a student at Southwestern University in Georgetown). Doug is represented by The Campbell Agency and is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and the Screen Actor’s Guild.
